Democrat Sarah Anthony Wins 68th District House Seat

Ingham County Commissioner Sarah Anthony has won the 68th District House seat, securing her spot as State Representative for both a partial and full term. Anthony will get to work immediately, filling the vacant seat of Lansing Mayor Andy Schor during “Lame Duck” and will then serve a full term beginning Jan. 1, 2019.

“I was born and raised on Lansing’s Southside, so to say I am dedicated to this district and its residents is an understatement. My story is similar to so many families across the 68th District — working hard together to make a good life,” Anthony said. “I’ve spent years working to ensure the people in this community have their voices elevated and I’m thrilled to bring that same commitment with me to the State Capitol.”

For the better part of the last decade, Anthony has worked every day to help neighbors solve problems as a legislative assistant and as a member of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners. As State Representative, Anthony will fight for what all Michiganders deserve: a strong education system, jobs with fair wages, economic equality, affordable health care, and safe schools and communities.

Anthony is stepping down from her role as an Ingham County Commissioner and will take office as soon as the Board of State Canvassers certifies the election.
