Rep. Sarah Anthony speaks out after recent shooting
LANSING – A second man has died after a shooting Monday night at a strip mall in south Lansing, his mother said Wednesday.
"With great sadness, I have to announce today that at six o'clock (Tuesday) afternoon. Marcus (Jackson-Burton) was also pronounced dead," Miranda Hinton, Jackson-Burton's mother, said.
Hinton spoke at a press conference Wednesday at the Lansing Police Department operations center. She was flanked by family members of both victims, investigators, Lansing Police Chief Daryl Green and state Rep. Sarah Anthony, D-Lansing, among others.
Speakers, including family members, Green and Anthony, called for an end to violence and expressed grief and frustration while also praising the work of investigators and the cooperation of witnesses.
